If you are in a Health Insurance Fund it is important that you are fully informed of your entitlements. The hospital holds no responsiblity for the completeness of your insurance knowledge. We advise you to clarify with your health fund exactly what you are covered for as soon as possible, to avoid any misunderstanding, this includes excesses, co-payments and any sundry charges that you may incur. Your Health Fund will give you advise on the likely out of pocket expenses you may incur, as well aw information on any applicable waiting periods.

On admission the hospital will ask you to sign a Financial Consent Form which outlines obligations in relation to your hospital account.

If you are uninsured and choose to pay for your care we recommend that you contact the hospital to obtain information on the costs involved with your stay at St. Vincent's Hospital. Accounts are settled upon checking into additional charges paid prior to your discharge.

Please note that certain items may not be covered by your health insurance fund such as telephone calls, television, flowers, hairdressing services, newspaper and magazines, postage stamps, acanteen trolley purchase and visitors's meals.

YOu may be billed separately for other services or individuals, such as your Doctor, Assistant Surgeon, Anaesthetist, X-Ray, Pathology, Speech and Language Pathology, Physiotherapist, and Pharmacy etc. This will depend on the services requested by your doctor.

All hospital accounts including telephone calls and television rental (if applicable) are payable in full on discharge.

Patients who are covered by Private Health Insurance may prefer to have the hospital submit their account directly to their Health Insurance Fund. Any charges for which insufficient Health Insurance is held are payable in full on discharge.
