St Vincent's Hospital Toowoomba
Bequests ::.. [Download Bequest Brochure]

Income from bequests is the most important source of private funding for St Vincent’s Hospital. It allows supporters to contribute to the Hospital in a lasting way - often in a way that might not be possible during their lifetime. By leaving a bequest to St Vincent’s you can continue to make a positive difference to other people’s lives… and it’s a wonderful way for your family and friends to remember you.

Of course, if we don’t make a Will, our estates pass in accordance with a State Government Act. But by planning ahead, your compassion will help us care for future generations… whether treating a woman with breast cancer or the most up to date technology in our operating theatre.

Naturally you can determine how we put your gift to use… whether purchasing the most advanced technology in medical equipment or supporting the hospital in other ways.

Types of Bequests
Your gift to St Vincent’s Hospital can be in the form of:

Residual Bequests
This is the type of Bequest that is highly recommended by St Vincent’s Hospital. Residual Bequests are a gift of whatever is left of your estate, or a percentage of such, after all other gifts, taxes and debts have been satisfied.

Percentage Requests
You can provide a percentage of your estate – for example 50%, 20% or 10% for St Vincent’s Hospital. This ensures that your family and friends are not disadvantaged by changes to the size of your estate or by inflation.

Specific Bequests
The simplest form of bequest when you specify the particular gift - for example, a specific amount of money, number of shares, piece of property (paintings, jewellery, a car) or specific life assurance policy. When choosing this type of bequest you need to consider what impact inflation may have on the value of your gift over time.

The Whole of your Estate
This usually occurs when there are no surviving relatives and the benefactor wishes to achieve something significant with their bequest.

If you have included a bequest to St Vincent’s Hospital in your Will, we would be delighted if you’d let us know. By making us aware of your intentions, you’ll help us to plan for the future… and we’d also like the opportunity to thank you personally.
