From August this year patients admitted to St Vincent's Hospital will enjoy beautiful ensuited rooms which will provide privacy and comfort following the completion of a $12 million major redevelopment at St Vincent's Hospital. A new two-storey extension will replace the existing old ward accommodation with 62 new acute-care beds over two floors, replacing in-patient accommodation used for medical and surgery patients. Most beds will be located in single rooms and the new facility will be fully air-conditioned and feature energy and water saving services. |

Construction of the project is well underway and is the largest development the hospital has undergone since the completion of the Mary Aikenhead Building which was completed in 1997. An official blessing by Bishop of the Toowoomba diocese William Morris DD took place on commencement of the project. "St Vincent's Hospital offers first class medical care and is the only provider of acute care services for people of all ages on the Darling Downs. Generations of regional families have been using our facilities since the Sisters of Charity established the hospital 86 years ago. St Vincent's Hospital has continued to grow and improve to meet the health care needs of our community, and this new development is another example of our commitment to the region. " said Carl Yuile, General Manager. |
